A Moody Mt. Rainier Wildflower Elopement | Jessa & Stef

If you’re dreaming of a wildflower elopement with mountain views, easy access, and that perfectly moody Washington feel, Jessa and Stef’s day at Mt. Rainier is such a beautiful example of what that can look like.

These two flew into Seattle for their wedding day and wanted the full PNW experience. Since it was their first time in Washington, they knew they wanted somewhere that felt epic, but also somewhere that wouldn’t require an intense all-day hike to get those incredible views. Mt. Rainier ended up being the perfect fit.

For their elopement, the fog rolled through the meadows, draped itself over the treeline, and made every single frame look like something out of a dream. Jessa and Stef loved it! And so did I. But beyond the scenery, this day was about the quiet, steady love between two people who clearly just genuinely like each other, and the joy of sharing that love with their family AND going off on their own to really experience the mountain together. Oh, and Pokémon cards.

A Mt. Rainier Wildflower Elopement with the Most Quintessential Washington Vibes

The funny thing about mountain weather is that it really loves to keep you guessing. The day before and the day after Jessa and Stef’s elopement were bright and sunny, so we fully expected their day to follow suit. Instead, Mt. Rainier gave us soft fog, mist, and that dreamy, moody atmosphere Washington does so well. But honestly, they couldn’t have loved their day more, and the photos came out gorgeous!

The low clouds wrapped around the trees and the mountain roads, the air felt fresh and cool, and every part of the landscape had that lush, misty feel that makes the PNW so special. Even though Mt. Rainier is often known for its huge views and summer wildflowers, I loved that this gallery also shows another side of the park

This is something I always tell my couples: expect the unexpected when it comes to the weather. The weather can shift quickly, and sometimes that means the day looks a little different than expected. But different does not mean worse! Just make sure to pack layers and be ready to have fun.

Including Family While Still Making Space for Private Moments

One of my favorite parts of Jessa and Stef’s day was the way they chose to include family, while still making time for their own adventure.

Eloping doesn’t have to mean doing everything completely alone, and their day is such a good reminder of that. They had family with them for the getting ready at the cabin and their ceremony, which made those moments feel incredibly meaningful. There was so much emotion woven throughout the day. You could feel how loved they are.

At the same time, they also made space for a separate private vow exchange, and I loved that they did that. Having both a family ceremony and private vows gave them the best of both worlds. They were able to share part of their wedding day with the people closest to them, while still stepping away to slow down, connect, and speak to each other privately.

That balance is something I think a lot of couples are looking for, especially if they want an intimate wedding day but still can’t imagine leaving family out completely. You really do not have to choose one or the other. You can absolutely create a day that includes both.

Why I Love Mt. Rainier for a Wildflower Elopement

Mt. Rainier is one of my favorite places to photograph elopements for so many reasons!

First, it’s just how much variety the park has. If you want those huge mountain views, wildflowers, alpine lakes, waterfalls, and forest trails, Rainier truly has it all. And the best part is that not every beautiful spot requires a long or strenuous hike. There are so many locations that are easy to access, which makes this area such a good option for couples who want an adventurous wedding day without feeling like they have to completely exhaust themselves to make it happen.

Second, it’s a really easy choice for couples flying in from out of state. Since Seattle is a major airport, it’s easy for couples to fly in, rent a car, and make their way to the park. The ease of access was definitely a selling point for Jessa and Stef, as well.

And third, Mt. Rainier feels very distinctly Washington. If you want a wedding gallery that immediately feels like the PNW, Mt. Rainier absolutely delivers.

Kind Words from Jessa & Stef

“Five stars is honestly not enough! I do not know how to write a review for someone when I’m absolutely speechless, and we’ve only seen the sneaks! Jessica was absolutely incredible! Her attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and ideas are unmatched. She took two people who don’t feel comfortable in front of a crowd or a camera and made us feel like we were the only two around. We knew she was going to do an amazing job, but she absolutely exceeded any and all expectations! She made our Mt. Rainier elopement everything we wanted and more! We know elopements are her specialty, but we will absolutely be reaching out for all other photos we need taken. At this point, we won’t trust anyone else!”

Ending the Day with Beer + Pokémon Cards at Packwood Brewing

One of the best things about eloping is that your day gets to reflect your actual relationship, not just what a wedding day is “supposed” to look like.

After spending the day adventuring around Mt. Rainier, Jessa and Stef ended things in such a fun and personal way. We made a stop at Packwood Brewing, where they had a few drinks, opened packs of Pokémon cards, and just got to enjoy being together.

I loved that they chose to include one of their favorite hobbies in the day. It made the ending feel playful, personal, and very them. Those kinds of details are often the ones couples end up remembering the most, because they make the day feel even more honest and reflective of who they are.

And as a total coincidence, they even ran into friends there, including their officiant from earlier in the day, so they got to chill and celebrate together. It was the perfect ending to their day!
