As a St. Augustine elopement photographer I am always so excited to show off the Old City, especially when it is someone’s first time visiting. When Janeth and Tom first contacted me they asked me for my opinion on where in Florida they should elope. They wanted beaches, pretty architecture, and a walkable city… enter St. Augustine!! St. Augustine has it all – gorgeous buildings inspired by Spanish architecture, an easily navigated town, and is only a short drive away from the beaches.

J & T are foodies who met while working at a crepe stand (spoilers – we included crepes into their day!) in Canada. When I asked how Tom had proposed to Janeth here’s what they said:

Tom was working in a remote city across the country for a couple of months. It was a project that was made challenging due to Covid. It was also one of the longest times we went without seeing each other in 8 years. He came back a day early without telling me and got a ring and some roses, and also set up a video call with my mother from Ecuador so she could see the proposal in our apartment. When I got into the apartment, I was greeted with a trail of rose pedals and found Tom on one knee at the end of that trail. After the proposal I heard cheering, which was my mother, aunt, and grandma who unbeknownst to me were watching secretly through video call. It was PERFECT!

Can you even believe how cute they are?? To say I had an amazing day with them would be an understatement. We used up every minute of our 8 hours together exploring Flagler College, St. George street, Ottis Castle, and ending at Vilano Beach. We even had time to take a breather at the Bayfront Marin house (where J & T were staying) to freshen up before heading to the beach for their ceremony.

Want to know what an 8 hour timeline can look like? Here’s the timeline for Janeth and Tom’s elopement day:

When I'm not behind the camera, I love spending time with my dog hiking the beautiful Florida trails, out on my paddle board in our local springs, or spending quality time with my husband exploring local events. When it's been too long since my last beach day, I have cravings for that perfect mix of saltwater and ocean air.
