The natural springs here in Florida are some of the state’s most gorgeous areas. There’s a reason why crowds of people run to the springs every warm spring and summer day that they can! The clear blue water stays a cool 68-70 degrees all year round which makes it the perfect spot to cool off on the hot Florida days.

Here’s a secret—in the off season, in the cooler days of fall, winter, and early spring, can you believe that the springs are left almost completely EMPTY? That’s right! The waters are too cool for Floridians during the off seasons which means you can have an entire spring almost to yourself if you time it right! Pair privacy with the natural beauty of the springs and you have the perfect Florida location for your elopement.

How To Elope At A Florida Spring

Here’s another secret for you… most springs are local or state parks which means it can be incredibly inexpensive to have your ceremony at the springs, with some springs like Kelly Park only requiring admission fees to elope with no permits necessary. Each park is different though so it’s always best to check with your photographer and the park rangers first.

Getting Ready + First Look At Kelly Park

For their elopement K+B got up before dawn to head to Kelly Park in Apopka so they could exchange vows next to the clear blue springs of Kelly Park. Because we were there right at opening the park was nearly empty and K+B had the park almost completely to themselves. They put the final touches of their outfits on at the picnic area and had a first look before we walked down to their ceremony site next to the spring.

Exchanging Vows and Defending Donuts from Squirrels

K+B exchanged vows against the sounds of babbling water, birds chirping, and wind coming through the palm trees. Everything was calm and serene – I couldn’t imagine a better backdrop for them! After they said “I do” we explored the rocks, took some pictures of them in their beautiful clothes, and celebrated with donuts. Not pictured is the squirrel we had to defend our donuts from, haha!

After taking some time to relax and watching the local fire department do a swimming exercise (they were swimming AGAINST the current!) we headed down the road to King’s Landing to go kayaking! This is a great local launching hole that you can rent all kinds of gear from. They even have a little shop in case you forget any essentials.

A Florida Springs Elopement Kayak Adventure

We launched into the canal on our kayaks and I absolutely loved how K+B brought along their bouquet for a ride in the back of their kayak. The spring run here is fairly shallow in most places which makes it a great spot for stopping and swimming! We found a palm tree to climb, ate some snacks, and splashed around in the cool waters. K in her white bikini was a MOOD and #bridesinbikinis is definitely becoming a thing!!

When our rental time was up we headed back to the launch site, packed up all our gear, and then headed to Henry’s Depot for some drinks and lunch. Safe to say we were all super exhausted, but in that really great way where you know you’re going to head home and cuddle for the rest of the day.

I LOVED this elopement and K+B’s willingness to go on an adventure in the Florida springs. We all had a blast and captured some pretty amazing memories!
